Ministry Values & Beliefs - July 15, 2007

A: The bible was written by men inspired by the Holy Spirit. In it's entirely, the bible leads us, teaches us, encourages us, gives us strength and power to walk to Christian life. God's word always has and always will be with us. God's word directs our path of life

B: One God, yet operating as three. The father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. A omnipresent God, a Savior in our Lord Jesus and a teacher in the Holy Spirit.

C: Jesus Christ is the Son of God and in the beginning was with of God (John 1:1) Jesus birth as being the divine work and plan of our heavenly Father. Jesus, who came to pay the penalty for our sins and put us back in right relationship with the Father. Jesus died and rose from the grave, defeating the enemy, giving us all authority and victory over the devil. Jesus now sits in heaven by the Father making intercession for us and will one day return for His bride

D: The Holy Spirit's work will always point and give glory to the Father. He will comfort us, teach us and draw us to closer relationship with the Father. Holy Spirits works to convict us of our sins and draws us to the loving arms of our Father, who forgives our sins(I John 1:9)

E: The greatest of all Christian virtues is love as stated in I Corinthians 13.

F: Matthew 28: 15 commands to "Go". We as believers should not haste, but be motivate to tell others the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

On Sax....Attitude! - July 15, 2007

Many People ask me about my attitude toward playing the saxophone. Let me share a story I read many years ago that really sums up my feelings on "sax attitudes".

Larry Jones(not real name) is 25 years old. He's been playing tenor sax since junior high school. Larry works in a weekend club date band and plays jazz whenever there is a opportunity. He has 83 mouthpieces, 15 ligatures, and 3 tenor saxophones.

Last year, he had the lacquer scraped off one of his saxophones, had metal resonators installed in another saxophone, and had his third sax overhauled three times in six months. He has never played one mouthpiece for more than a week nor has he played one horn for more than a year.

Larry believes that one day he'll try some mouthpiece or try some horn and that piece of equipment will cause the clouds to part and instantly make him sound like a combination of Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, and Sonny Rollins on a good day. This musician is looking for growth, inspiration, and improvement in hardware accessories because he is afraid to face the fact that what he is looking for must come from inside. It is easier to believe that a new piece of equipment will make the lightning strike, than to accept the scary fact that passion, originality, and creativity must come from within.
